Application Process

How would you and your school like to be awarded $2,000.00 and be recognized around the state of New Hampshire for the excellence you do?  McDonalds is proud to partner with the "ED"ies to award each elementary, middle and secondary School of Excellence $2,000. It is the intent of the “ED”ies Committee to provide a process that honors exemplary practices and excellence at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels throughout the Granite State.

We hope that the following process will encourage you to apply for the “ED”ies award. We look forward to receiving your response and sharing it with all of the Selection Committees for 2009!

The process for elementary, middle and secondary involves these steps:

Step 1:
Applicants will need to submit no later than December 5, 2008 a written response that does not exceed 5 pages in length (use a standard 12 point font with 1 inch margins) and addresses the following:
    • Personalization: How does the school personalize learning to meet the needs of educating the whole child?
    • Data: Summarize key data trends in your school and explain their impact on the teaching/learning process.
    • Innovation: Describe a school initiative or innovation that has had a positive impact.
    • Rubric: Review the newly revised “ED”ies School of Excellence rubric (click on the word rubric) and briefly highlight key strengths of your school.
    • Inspiration: If selected as a representative of excellence, how will you inspire other schools?
*Please clearly identify each area of your response and number all pages.  Remember to include the name of your school, contact person and phone number.
Step 2:
The “ED”ies Committee will notify all schools that apply by January 16, 2009 as to whether or not they will be invited to present to the selection committee.
Step 3:
Presentations to the selection committee will occur before February 27 and will be 30 minutes in length with 15 minutes for questions/answers. The time and location will be announced at the time of notification.
Step 4:
All schools will be notified by March 6 as to whether or not they will receive a follow-up visit from the selection committee. Date and time of the visit will be announced at that time.
Step 5:
Visits will take place by April 3 and be a half-day in length. Exact times are to be determined.
Step 6:
Announcements will be made during the week of April 17 announcing the recipient of the award and any finalists for the award. Finalists will be determined after all visitations have been completed.
