Application Instructions
The Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Selection Committees for the NH Excellence in Education Awards (“ED”ies) has redesigned the application process for Elementary, Middle and High Schools through out the Granite State for the “ED”ies School of Excellence Award for 2008.
The new process involves these steps:
Step 1: |
Applicants will need to submit no later than January 4, 2008 a written application that does not exceed 5 pages in length (use a standard 12 point font with 1 inch margins). There is one common application at all levels (K-8, Elementary, Middle & Secondary). You must address the following 5 questions in your application: |
|
a. How does the school personalize to meet the needs of all students?
b. Summarize key data trends in your school and tell us what it means.
c. Describe a school initiative or innovation that has had a positive impact.
d. Review the EDies School of Excellence rubrics and briefly highlight key strengths of your school. Click here for the rubric [PDF document].
e. If selected as a school representative of excellence, how will you inspire other schools to strive for excellence? |
Step 2: |
The “ED”ies Committee will notify all schools that apply by February 8 as to whether or not they will be invited to present to the selection committee. |
Step 3: |
Presentations to the selection committee will occur before March 10 and will be 30 minutes in length with 15 minutes for questions/answers. The time and location will be announced at the time of notification. |
Step 4: |
All schools will be notified by March 15, 2008 as to whether or not they will receive a follow-up visit from the selection committee. Date and time of the visit will be announced at that time. |
Step 5: |
Visits will take place in late March or early April and be a half-day in length. Exact times are to be determined. |
Step 6: |
Announcements will be made in May as to the recipient of the award and any finalists for the award. Finalists will be determined after all visitations have been completed. |
The Awards Ceremony is scheduled for June 7, 2008 at the Center of New Hampshire.
It is the intent of the Committee to provide a process that honors exemplary practices and excellence at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels and diminishes the burden of the lengthy application process. We hope that the redesigned process will encourage you to apply for the “ED”ies award. We look forward to you sharing your exemplary practices with all of the Selection Committees for 2008!
